Managing payments

To make it easy for you, there are many ways to pay your Ignite credit card account.

Card Autopay

An easy and reliable way to make payments is to set up automatic monthly payments to your Ignite credit card. You can make payments from any transaction account – at no additional cost – and make changes at any time by giving us 7 days notice.

How to set up Card Autopay:

Direct debits

You could also save time and avoid paying late fees on your other bills by setting up direct debits from your Ignite credit card.

How to set up direct debits:

  1. Call your service provider
  2. Give them your Ignite credit card details
  3. Choose the date and amount for the payment

Telephone Banking or Online Banking

Make payments instantly from your other Westpac accounts, via Online Banking or by calling 1800 080 000.


If you have an account with another bank with BPAY functionality, you can make payments using BPAY.

How to use BPAY:

  • Log into Online Banking or use Telephone Banking by calling 1800 080 000.
  • Use your Ignite credit card number as your customer reference number
  • The BPAY code of 172015
  • The BPAY description is 'Ignite credit card by Westpac'

Payments by mail

Post your statement slip and cheque to Cards, GPO Box 4220, Sydney NSW 2001. To avoid fees, make sure you post it in time to reach your account before the due date.

Making changes

Add an additional cardholder – at no extra cost

Share the benefits of the Ignite credit card with someone else. As long as they're 16 or over, you can add an additional cardholder to your account and share the same credit limit.

Increase or decrease your credit limit4

If you want a bit more room to move or if your income changes, you can apply to change your credit limit5 at any time.

To help protect you and reduce incidents of fraud, your Ignite credit card comes with one of the latest advances in card security.

CardShield™ guards you against fraudulent activity with:

  • Online Transaction Security Guarantee: You won't be liable for any loss resulting from any internet transaction made using your Ignite credit card without your knowledge or consent, as long as we are notified of that transaction before the due date shown on your credit card account statement.
  • 24/7 Falcon™ fraud protection: This monitors every transaction for irregular activity. If a suspicious transaction is detected, one of Westpac's fraud specialists will contact you to check if the transaction was genuinely made by you. If not, we may be able to reverse the transaction.
  • Chip technology: One of the latest advances in credit card security and fast becoming the global standard, the embedded microchip in your card stores your information so it's much harder to copy fraudulently.

Foreign Transaction Fee

A 3% Foreign Transaction Fee is payable as a percentage of the Australian dollar value of any Foreign Transaction.

Note: It may not always be clear to you that the Merchant or entity processing the transaction is located outside Australia.

Cash Advances/ Withdrawal fee

An administrative charge of 2% of the value of the transaction will apply to each Cash Advance made on your card account:

  • Where your account has a negative (debit) balance after the transaction has been posted to it, a minimum charge of $2.50 and a maximum charge of $50 will apply
  • Where your account has a positive (credit) balance after the transaction has been posted to it, a charge of $2.50 will apply. These charges will appear on your credit card statement directly below the relevant Cash Advance.

Missed payment charge

A charge of $9 may be payable each statement cycle that the whole of the minimum monthly payment is not paid by the statement due date. If charged, the missed payment charge will be debited to your account.

Over-limit fee

If your card account was opened before 4 June 2012, a fee of $9 may be debited from your credit card account if you exceed your credit limit during a statement cycle. It is debited from your account in that statement cycle, on or after the day your credit limit is exceeded. This fee may also be charged whenever your account is over limit at the commencement of a statement cycle.
